The National Network of Women Peace Mediators is a pioneering initiative launched by the Iraqi government in partnership with UNDP and UN Women to strengthen women’s roles in conflict resolution and peacebuilding. Through a structured training program, the initiative equips women with mediation skills, enabling them to address community conflicts, promote dialogue, and advocate for sustainable peace. Participants undergo multi-phase training, including specialized conflict resolution workshops led by the Clingendael Institute in the Netherlands. Beyond mediation, the network raises awareness of the Women, Peace, and Security agenda, positioning women as key leaders in Iraq’s peace efforts. The initiative aligns with the Arab Network of Women Mediators and is set to launch officially on March 3, 2025, marking a significant step toward inclusive peace processes in the region.
