As the visual lead for the European Film Festival project in Baghdad, I collaborated closely with the EU in Iraq, understanding their vision for this inaugural cinematic venture. Crafting a compelling visual communication campaign, my role aimed to engage and captivate audiences, enticing them to partake in the rich diversity of European cinema. Employing a vibrant palette and dynamic collage design, I infused the visuals with multi-color elements, ensuring an entertaining and visually stimulating experience. By aligning the visuals with the festival's goal of fostering cultural understanding, I contributed to the success of this monumental event, extending the global reach of the European Film Festival to Baghdad for the first time.
Agenda
My design decisions for the European Film Festival project were intricately influenced by a comprehensive research-driven methodology. The initial step involved a deep dive into the brand book received from the EU in Iraq. Diligently studying its elements and colors, I incorporated them into the campaign's visual narrative. The mixture of EU brand elements and Iraqi cultural nuances was achieved through vibrant collage art, aiming for both visual engagement and cultural resonance.

Simultaneously, online research into global film festivals became a pivotal aspect of my approach. Studying the dynamics, visuals, and themes of various festivals provided valuable insights that informed the direction of the European Film Festival campaign in Baghdad. This multi-faceted research approach was instrumental in creating a visually stimulating and culturally rich experience.
Short Films Workshop
The campaign's success was not only measured by its entertainment factor but also by its impact on the community. With an average of 200 attendees per movie, the festival effectively brought European film culture to Iraq. The strategic alignment of European flag colors with an Iraqi aesthetic further enhanced the campaign's ability to resonate with the local audience. Through meticulous research and thoughtful implementation, the European Film Festival not only engaged audiences but also contributed to fostering cultural understanding and appreciation in Baghdad for the first time.
